According to a recent study published by the website Health Choice, infant mortality rates dropped by a staggering 30% during the Covid-19 lockdown period.
Amy Becker and Mark Blaxhill, Chairman and co-founder of the website co-authored the paper which raises the question as to whether the unexpected drop in infant deaths is because of missed routine vaccinations.
The U.S. mortality rates declined among young people during the lockdown, especially among infants. This trend has gone largely unnoticed, unreported and remains unexplained.
Starting in early March, expected deaths began a sharp decline, from an expected level of around 700 deaths per week to well under 500 by mid-April and throughout May.
So why did infant mortality rates drop to historic lows as vaccination rates fell?
They state
“One very clear change that has received publicity is that the public health officials are bemoaning the sharp decline in infant vaccinations as parents are not taking their infants into paediatric offices for their regular well-baby checks. In May 15 issue of the CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), a group of authors from the CDC and Kaiser Permanente reported a sharp decline in provider orders for vaccines, as well as a decline in paediatric vaccine doses administered. These declines began in early March, around the time infant deaths began declining.”
If vaccines are so important for an infant to survive, then why didn’t the infant death rate dramatically increase as the vaccination rate fell? The data shows that the opposite effect occurred. The trend of infant death remained steady from 2014 to 2019 but that all changed in 2020.
Vaccines are heavily praised, mostly by the vaccine serum manufacturers, as the gold-standard for saving millions of lives worldwide.’ Well-baby’ visits are designed to introduce up to 26 liability-free vaccinations in the baby’s first year of life.

UNICEF – (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) take a completely different view they state ‘Indiscriminate lockdowns’ are an ineffective way to control Covid and could contribute to a 45% rise in child mortality.
The risk of children dying from malaria, pneumonia or diarrhoea in developing countries is spiralling due to the pandemic and far outweighs any threat presented by the coronavirus.
In some countries the public are avoiding hospitals and health centres for fear of picking up Covid-19. Vaccination campaigns against diseases including measles have been disrupted – at least 117 million children worldwide are likely to miss out on routine immunisations this year.
According to a stark report published in Lancet Global Health journal, almost 1.2 million children could die in the next six months due to the disruption to health services and food supplies caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The modelling, by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Unicef, found that child mortality rates could rise by as much as 45% due to coronavirus-related disruptions.
We cannot allow almost a decade of progress on ending preventable child deaths to become undone on our watch.
Analysis
I found this topic fascinating to investigate, it is a difficult one to call on vaccinations and their efficacy and effect on infants.
Most parents take their children to the GP for their state immunisation programme without question without a thought of what the vaccine contains – we trust the state to look after our health and for the vaccines to be thoroughly tested and safe, but are they?
That is the million dollar question!
