The baby son of a heavily pregnant woman who was stabbed to death in south London has lost his battle for life. Kelly Mary Fauvrelle aged 26 was stabbed to death in Raymead Avenue, Croydon, on Saturday.
Her baby, who was given the name Riley by Ms Fauvrelle’s family, was delivered by paramedics at the scene but died in the early hours of Wednesday.
This comes as the Metropolitan Police have released footage of a man seen running away from the house that night. The CCTV shows a hooded figure walking towards Ms Fauvrelle’s home at about 03:15 BST on Saturday, then running away 10 minutes later.
Det Ch Insp Mick Norman said the “tragic development makes it even more important that anyone with information comes forward as a matter of urgency”. He described it as an “extremely challenging investigation” in which Officers need “to identify the man shown in the footage urgently, even if only to eliminate him from our inquiries”. He said speculation about whether Kelly’s attacker was known to her was not helpful and said detectives “are not in a position to say and we must retain an open mind”.
So far two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 37-year-old man has been released with no further action while a 29-year-old man was bailed until a date in August.
