Heath Secretary says UK has seen ‘first credible’ cases of people being reinfected with coronavirus, but none have shown symptoms

Matt Hancock this week made a statement at the Commons Health and Social Care Committee which has been reported upon widely across major mainstream media platforms – his comments sparked my interest and deserve further investigation.

What immediately struck me is this appears to be Government’s Coronavirus Strategy Phase II – The Young – what do I mean by this – let me explain.

In brief:-

  • Matt Hancock says we’ve seen first ‘credible’ cases of coronavirus reinfections
  • ‘You can see it is a different disease to… the first time around
  • The Health Secretary added: ‘In all the cases that I have seen it has been an asymptomatic second infection… picked up through asymptomatic testing’

The Health Secretary’s comments came after the UK recorded close to 3,000 new cases of Covid-19 – for the 2nd day running – with a particular rise highlighted among younger people.

Mr Hancock stated the government was also starting to see instances of reinfections of the virus, but all had been asymptomatic cases.

He told MPs that through genomic analysis “you can see it is a different disease to the one the person got the first time round”, adding: “In all cases that I have seen it has been an asymptotic second infection that has been picked up through asymptomatic testing.”

He told the House of Commons a recent spike in cases across the country should be a reminder that the virus ‘remains a threat’, and the crisis is ‘not over‘.

Let’s drill down into this claim, at this point I would like to state I am not medically trained, this is purely my analysis/theory on what could be happening and what I believe is a real possibility.

Analysis

I refer you to one of my previous articles in which I investigated memory T-cell immunity which states:-

“While SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) is a new virus and distinct from SARS-CoV-1 (although reportedly containing a 79% genetic similarity), there is strong reason to believe that T cell memory protects from future relapses.

This would likely mean, many previously infected patients, would theoretically test positive again with a PCR test, but the T cells would ward off the systems and reduce their infective capabilities to transmit to others.

Researchers have long suspected that there is cross-immunity from other coronaviruses – 4 of which are forms of the common cold.  Cross-immunity was established during the H1N1 outbreak in 2009 when many people appeared to be immune, presumably due to prior outbreaks of seasonal H1N1 flu.” https://unitynewsnetwork.co.uk/new-study-shows-potential-of-t-cells-in-the-fight-against-covid-19/

New Study shows Potential of T-Cells in the fight against Covid-19

Now that Covid-19 mortality rates have fallen to low levels, we see a shift of focus on to “cases” and more testing centres being opened across the country ramping up the number of tests – the “spike in cases” is deceptive language –  I would suggest there are no spikes only increases in positive tests (consistent with increase in test activity).

A case is not the same as a positive test result unless you believe it is of no significance whether someone has symptoms or not.

  • Are positive test results from asymptomatic tests recognising memory T cells from previous coronaviruses in their “genomic analysis”?
  • Is the lockdown policy more to do with psychology and behavioural change than controlling the virus?  We only have to look to Sweden for confirmation that the draconian lockdowns have achieved nothing – so why continue down this route?.

We will now I believe witness Phase II of the Government Coronavirus Policy being implemented which will target the young who the Government state are “flouting the lockdown rules” – comply or face fines and curfews.

I will be watching ongoing developments on this “new tactic” very closely – more to follow…
