Volunteer Coastal Defence Team: Brave Patriots & Concerned Citizens or vigilantes?

Kent Online have run a feature on the newly established South East Coastal Defence (SECD) team saying: Immigration is good for Britain but not the illegal kind.  That’s the firm view of a new group of self-declared patriots who are monitoring the coast from Deal to Dungeness for migrant landings on dinghies. 
 
Romney Marsh-based South East Coastal Defence says when its members find migrants landing they will offer them food, water and blankets to encourage them to stay and wait for the authorities to pick them up.
Elaine Renton, of Romney March, got in touch with UNN to say that there are upcoming programmes due by Old Media organisations such as the BBC and she wanted to ensure that she got her message out fairly. We asked Elaine the following questions and she kindly got back to us saying:

1- What motivated you set up the SE Coastal Defence? 

I set up SEÇD because I live on the SE Kent coast and I’m sick of the govt doing NOTHING about the illegals hitting our shores 24/7 with no background or criminal history checks being done.
2- Do you feel the authorities are listening to your concerns?
The so called ‘authorities’ are doing NOTHING about what’s going on and despite me trying multiple times to get a response they are blanking me.
3- What about accusations that you are racist or intolerant?
No, not at all. SE Coastal Defence is nothing to do with race, creed or colour. We are only concerned with the safety and security of our country and ensuring our future generations actually have a future. I get called ‘racist and intolerant on a daily basis .
Does it upset me ? Of course it does but the ‘racism’ card has been played so much in the last few years that it has lost it’s meaning.
 
4- What message do you have to the wider British Public?
Our message to the public is PLEASE STOP believing the nonsense the likes of the BBC are feeding you . MSM have been lying to all of us for decades !!! In the last 60 hrs alone we have had 137 illegals come into the SE Kent coast. I was told tonight that locals are now taking the dinghy’s that ‘reportedly’ are left on our beaches and selling them. Because they’re making money they are ignoring the fact that we are being invaded.
Ben Bano, a Deal town councillor is also co-director of the Kent pro-migrant group Seeking Sanctuary and does not agree that it is an issue and in fact we should be more sympathetic to the Illegal Immigrants plight. Bano said:
People who risk their lives coming to the UK are certainly not after economic benefits. They are fleeing oppression and persecution.
Those applying for asylum are granted a support allowance of just £35 a week until their claim is decided. Most of those involved are unable to cope with this minimal amount. 
 While the Home Office is deciding their application they have accommodation provided in the north of England where housing is cheaper.  When their claim is decided they don’t have a right to that accommodation and there has been a rise in the number of homeless migrants.”
 
According to the well respected think-tank Migration Watch UK-
 
Two thirds of the British public think that immigration is too high.
 
Almost three quarters think that the UK is crowded.
 
70% think that immigration has a negative effect on the availability of housing.
 
Excluding those who answered ‘don’t know’, 70% of the public think that net migration will only reach sustainable levels at 100,000 or below.
 
Almost two thirds of the public are in favour of restricting lower skilled migrants from the EU after Brexit.”
 
Whilst there are campaigns against what Elaine and her team are doing poll after poll shows that the silent majority is likely in total agreement with the SECD and their actions and Elaine just hopes that the Old Media will give a fair representation of the significant work that they are doing.
