EU Barnier WALKS out of key Brexit meeting as crunch Parliament vote looms!

Tensions continue to grow not only between the UK and the EU but also within Parliament itself as crucial votes are set to take place in Parliament that could determine the future of Brexit negotiations. Reports are surfacing that David Davis, the embattled Brexit Minister, was in Brussels for a meeting with EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier.

The British minister had travelled to the Belgian capital for the morning meeting after last week proved to be a a rollercoaster for Brexit negotations. Mr Davis’ Cabinet position was shrouded in rumours about a potential resignation while Barnier was forced to clarify his position after seemingly rejecting Theresa May’s backstop proposal.

The Brexit Secretary was seen entering the Berlaymont in a ministerial car. Prior to their encounter, Mr Barnier was spotted across the road buying a selection of croissants for the event. But it appears that all did not go to plan and a furious Barnier is reported to have left the meeting early with no further agreements reached on Brexit.

Davis made no public appearance in Brussels after the scheduled discussion between the two men heading up Brexit negotiations. David Davis is increasingly coming in for ridicule over his numerous resignation threats none of which have materialised. Ahead of the crucial commons vote it appears the Government led by the increasingly hapless Theresa May and Parliament is as divided as ever.
