In March 2020, 3 months after COVID-19 appeared in central China, belief that the virus had been created in a lab and possibly weaponised was widespread. A game of “blame game ping pong” ensued with China blaming the US and vice versa. China’s global state media apparatus kicked in to push the theory.
“Did the U.S. government intentionally conceal the reality of COVID-19 with the flu?”
Why was the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Ft. Detrick in Maryland, the largest biochemical testing base, shut down in July 2019?”
Beijing was besieged by demands for accountability.
Australian officials called for an inquiry into the origins and spread of coronavirus. Within a month, China banned beef from four big Australian producers and slapped an 80% tariff on Australian barley – moves widely seen as retribution, although China has denied that charge.
China refused repeated requests by the WHO to take part in investigations into the origins of COVID-19.
But finally on14 January 2021 – a team from the World Health Organization landed in China to investigate. China only agreed amid massive international pressure at the World Health Assembly meeting in May 2020. Beijing has continued to deny calls for a strictly independent investigation.
However, things didn’t go quite as planned – China refused to hand over key Covid information.
Dominic Dwyer, an Australian infectious disease expert who was part of the team, said they had requested raw patient data. Sharing anonymised raw data is “standard practice” for an outbreak investigation and of particular importance in efforts to understand as only half of the 174 initial cases had exposure to the now-shuttered market where the virus was initially detected.
Peter Ben Embarek told a news conference that the virus probably came from animals, but could have taken a “very long and convoluted path involving movements across borders.
The World Health Organization says the coronavirus is unlikely to have leaked from a Chinese lab and most probably jumped to humans via an intermediary species.
All very vague – will we ever get to the truth? Highly unlikely given allegations that the WHO’s 3 lead investigators have previous links to Chinese Institutions (and had been pre-vetted and approved by the Chinese Government). Namely; Peter Daszak, Dr Peter Ben Embarek, and Doctor Marion Koopmans.
Peter Daszak is a zoologist and bat-virus sample collector also President of EcoHealth Alliance — a group that channelled money from the US National Institutes of Health to Shi Zhengli’s laboratory in Wuhan, allowing the lab to carry on recombinant research into diseases of bats and humans.
Daszak had worked for 15 years for the Wuhan Institute the very laboratory he is supposed to be “independently” investigating
Daszak also led efforts that have dismissed concerns over lab leakage as a ‘baseless’ conspiracy theory. Which led him in February 2016 to co-opt a “Lancet Medical Journal statement” signed by 27 scientists (interesting to note Christian Drosten – (co-author of the “challenged” paper – “Detection of 2019 novel coronavirus by real-time RT-PCR”) & Jeremy Farrar of The Wellcome Trust listed).
We sign this statement in solidarity with all scientists and health professionals in China who continue to save lives and protect global health during the challenge of the COVID-19 outbreak. We are all in this together, with our Chinese counterparts in the forefront, against this new viral threat.
The rapid, open, and transparent sharing of data on this outbreak is now being threatened by rumours and misinformation around its origins. “Gain of Function” experiments — are aimed to create new, more virulent, infectious strains of diseases in an effort to predict and defend against threats that might arise. For years people have contended this type of virus experimentation might lead to a disastrous pandemic.

Alternative media is essential in these times of unprecedented censorship and mainstream bias, which has ramped up exponentially during the past 2 years. The overton window of “acceptable opinion” is growing every narrower.
