Brexit deal has been ‘Gina Miller Proofed’ to ensure no legal challenges can take place

MPs are voting today on whether to back the Government’s Brexit Bill to leave the EU within the next six weeks.  The withdrawal agreement is also set to ban the Government from extending the transition period before the end of 2020.

MPs will also not be allowed a veto over any extension to the transition period or be able to approve the future relationship treaty.

Government officials are hoping this strengthened version of the Bill – which will be voted on at around 2.30pm today – will now stop any challenges from Brexit campaigner Gina Miller in the Supreme Court.

A Source spoke to the Telegraph and said:

We know that legal complainers will use any kind of legal means in challenges that might try to get in the way of Brexit and, as with any piece of legislation, we have stripped out anything that might have made us a hostage to fortune.

Gina Miller is committed to overturning Government decisions in the courts and we are not leaving anything to chance.

However Mrs Miller has hit back at the latest moves, accusing Mr Johnson’s team of “personal score-settling”.

In September she defeated the Prime Minister in the Supreme Court when his prorogation of Parliament was ruled unlawful and also one another famous victory in the High Court ensuring Parliament had a final say on any Brexit deal which resulted in significant delays to Brexit.

Ms Miller told The Daily Telegraph:

“It seems ironic that a Conservative Government, which ought to be expected to champion the freedom of the individual, should be trying to fetter the rights of individuals with a legitimate claim to hold the state to account.

In the enormity of the scale of social and legal issues that urgently need addressing, it also feels a bit like some personal score-settling is taking place as a consequence of my past two successful Supreme Court challenges which were protecting Parliament’s sovereignty and institutions from abuse of power.”
