Dr Bhattacharya, a co-author of the Great Barrington Declaration, a petition calling for the end of COVID-19 lockdowns, has come out once again and publicly stated what I and many others have been saying for what feels like an eternity now and that is Lockdowns were a terrible mistake.
The Great Barrington Declaration received signatures from more 13,000 medical and public health scientists, more than 41,000 medical practitioners and at least 754,399 “concerned citizens.”
The declaration is based on the fact that older people with multiple comorbidities have a much higher risk of dying of COVID-19 than others and therefore there should be focused protection for the vulnerable (if they choose it). Yet this commonsense approach was not only ignored by the state and its corporate media, but also removed from social media platforms.
We must never underestimate the courage that swimming against the tide takes in the crazy Covid-19 world that we have found ourselves.
Stanford doc: Lockdowns ‘biggest public health mistake’ ever
Dr.Bhattacharya of the Stanford Medical School made the remark in an interview with the Daily Clout last month and confirmed it to Newsweek in a story posted Monday 8th March.
He stated – “I stand behind my comment that the lockdowns are the single worst public health mistake in the last 100 years. We will be counting the catastrophic health and psychological harms, imposed on nearly every poor person on the face of the earth, for a generation.”
He argued the measures “have not served to control the epidemic in the places where they have been most vigorously imposed.”
He called the lockdowns “trickle down epidemiology.”
Last September, Bhattacharya participated in a roundtable with Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in which he said the widescale lockdowns actually increase the risk to the vulnerable, slowing down the building of herd immunity for the population.
Further, a peer-reviewed study published in the European Journal of Clinical Investigation on Jan. 5 comparing cases in 10 countries, including the U.S., found lockdowns and other mitigation measures to be ineffective.
The researchers found “no clear, significant beneficial effect of [more restrictive measures] on case growth in any country.” We fail to find any additional benefit of stay-at-home orders and business closures,” the researchers said.
Analysis
The question has always been whether and to what extent a lockdown, however extreme, is capable of suppressing the virus.
There appears to be no relationship between lockdowns and lives saved. In fact, as Dr Bhattacharya has stated the ‘Catastrophic’ harms will be felt for a generation
So the question has to be why are Boris and his “experts” not listening? Are they still following Professor Ferguson’s flawed modelling system?
And if so why?
